Finding a Dental Practice That Works for You
Finding a dental practice that works around YOUR life — not the other way around — shouldn’t be this hard. Whether you need Saturday hours because you can’t take time off work, sedation because the thought of a dental appointment makes your stomach drop, DVA because you’ve served your country and earned it, or accessibility because a standard dental chair doesn’t work for you — this is why we built this practice the way we did.
At Compass Dental Care in Parap, every barrier that stops people from getting dental care is something we’ve thought about and addressed. Not because it’s a marketing angle — because it’s the right way to run a dental clinic.
DVA Dentist Darwin
DVA Gold and White Card accepted. We bill DVA directly — no upfront cost for eligible services. Dr Pham is an ex-military veteran who understands the dental challenges that come with service — years of deferred care, complex presentations, and the need for a dentist who doesn’t judge and just makes a plan.
No referral is needed. Call us, bring your DVA card, and we’ll confirm your entitlements and get started.

Payment Plans Darwin
Zip Pay and Zip Money are available so cost doesn’t have to be the reason you delay treatment. We also process HICAPS on-the-spot claims for all major health funds — you only pay the gap at the time of your appointment.

Dental Anxiety Treatment Darwin
We understand that dental anxiety is real, and we take it seriously. At Compass Dental Care, anxious patients get proper care — not just reassurance. Multiple levels of comfort are available: Calaject computer-controlled anaesthetic eliminates the sting of a traditional injection, happy gas provides mild relaxation, and oral sedation offers deeper comfort for patients who need it.
Dr Pham holds a postgraduate diploma in sedation and pain control. He has the training to match the right level of sedation to your individual needs.

Happy Gas Darwin
Nitrous oxide — commonly known as happy gas — is breathed through a small nose mask during your appointment. It works in minutes: you stay fully conscious and relaxed, aware of what’s happening but not bothered by it. When the mask comes off, it wears off in minutes.
Happy gas is available for both adults and children. Most patients can drive themselves home afterwards. It’s one of the safest and most widely used forms of dental sedation.
Oral Sedation Darwin
For patients who need deeper relaxation than happy gas provides, oral sedation involves taking a prescribed tablet before your appointment. You’ll feel drowsy and relaxed throughout the procedure. You’ll need someone to drive you home afterwards.
Dr Pham holds a postgraduate diploma in sedation — he doesn’t just prescribe the tablet, he has the clinical training to assess whether oral sedation is appropriate for you and monitor you safely throughout treatment.

Pregnancy Dental Care Darwin
Dental care during pregnancy is safe and recommended. The second trimester is the ideal window for treatment, but emergencies can be managed at any stage. Pregnancy gingivitis — swollen, tender gums caused by hormonal changes — is common and treatable with a professional clean.
We take extra precautions with X-rays and medications during pregnancy. Dr Pham will discuss all treatment options with you and ensure everything is safe for you and your baby.
Your Guide: Dr Thien Pham
This practice was built to be accessible. Dr Pham’s military background gives him firsthand understanding of veterans’ dental needs — years of deferred care, complex presentations, and the expectation of a dentist who makes a plan and works through it without judgement.
His postgraduate qualifications in sedation and pain control mean anxious patients get proper clinical care, not just reassurance. Calaject, happy gas, and oral sedation are available because different patients need different levels of support — and Dr Pham has the training to match the right option to each individual.
And Saturday hours exist because working families deserve dental care too. BDSc (University of Melbourne), postgraduate sedation and pain control, postgraduate oral surgery. Suite 102/12 Salonika St, Parap NT 0820.
