We reserve emergency slots every day — Monday to Friday 9am–5pm and Saturday mornings 8:30am–12:30pm. These are kept specifically for urgent cases, so when you call with an emergency, we don’t have to squeeze you in around existing bookings. You get a proper appointment with proper time allocated.

Toothache Treatment

A toothache that won’t go away is your body telling you something is wrong. The most common causes are deep decay reaching the nerve, a dental abscess, or a cracked tooth — all of which need professional treatment, not just painkillers.

We’ll diagnose the source of your pain with a clinical exam and X-rays, explain what’s happening in plain language, and relieve your pain the same day wherever possible. Whether that means a filling, root canal, or extraction — we handle it in-house.

While you wait for your appointment: take ibuprofen as directed, rinse with warm salt water, and avoid very hot or cold foods on the affected side.

Broken Tooth Repair

A chipped or broken tooth — whether from biting down on something hard, a fall, or a sporting injury — needs prompt attention. The longer you wait, the higher the risk of infection or further damage to the tooth.

For minor chips, same-day composite bonding can restore the tooth in a single visit. For more severe breaks where the nerve is exposed or a large portion of the tooth is lost, a crown may be needed. Dr Pham will assess the damage, explain your options, and get you comfortable quickly.

If you have any broken fragments, bring them with you — in some cases they can be re-bonded to the tooth.

Knocked Out Tooth

A knocked-out adult tooth is one of the most time-critical dental emergencies. If you act quickly — within 30 minutes — there’s a strong chance the tooth can be reimplanted and saved. Every minute counts.

Handle the tooth by the crown (the white part) only — never touch the root. If it’s dirty, rinse it gently with milk or saline. Try to place it back in the socket if you can. If not, keep it in milk (not water) and get to our Parap practice immediately.

Crown Recementation

A crown that’s fallen off can be alarming, but it’s usually straightforward to fix. Whatever you do, don’t try to superglue it back on — superglue isn’t designed for the mouth and can make things worse.

Bring the crown with you if you still have it. In most cases, recementation takes 15–30 minutes and can be done the same day you call. We’ll check the underlying tooth for any decay, clean both surfaces, and re-cement the crown properly.

Denture Repair

Cracked or broken dentures affect your ability to eat, speak, and feel confident. We assess and repair dentures the same day where possible, so you’re not left without them for days on end.

Bring all the pieces with you, even small fragments — they help us understand the break pattern and repair more accurately. For fractures that can’t be repaired chairside, we work with local labs to turn things around as quickly as we can.

Emergency Wisdom Teeth Removal

An impacted or infected wisdom tooth can flare into severe pain and swelling seemingly overnight. Dr Pham removes wisdom teeth in-house — including surgical cases — under local anaesthetic, happy gas, or sedation, so there’s no hospital referral and no long wait.

Emergency Tooth Extraction

When a tooth is too badly decayed, broken, or infected to save, a prompt extraction relieves the pain and stops the infection spreading. We perform simple extractions in-house under local anaesthetic, with sedation options for anxious patients.

Dr Pham always looks at whether the tooth can be saved first — extraction is a last resort, and we’ll talk you through replacement options like implants or dentures when the time is right.

Surgical Extractions

Broken-down, impacted, or difficult teeth sometimes need a surgical extraction rather than a simple one. Dr Pham has postgraduate oral surgery training and manages complex removals in-house — no referral to a specialist across town, and treated in the same visit where it’s urgent.

What should I do for toothache at home before my appointment?

Take ibuprofen (such as Nurofen) as directed — it targets both pain and inflammation. Rinse gently with warm salt water (half a teaspoon in a glass of water). Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek, 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. Avoid placing aspirin directly on your gums as it causes chemical burns. Avoid very hot or cold food and drink on the affected side. These measures manage symptoms while you wait — they don’t treat the underlying cause.

Do you charge more for emergency appointments?

No. Emergency appointments are charged at the same rates as standard appointments. The total cost depends on the treatment needed — a simple recementation is different from a surgical extraction. We’ll explain your options and give you a clear estimate before we proceed. We process health fund claims on the spot with HICAPS, and we also offer Zip Pay and Zip Money for patients who need a payment plan.
